Preparing to Create a Self-Inventory

Chapter 5 in Richard Bolles's book, What Color Is Your Parachute?, prepares the reader to embark on a journey of self-reflection and discovery. Interestingly, my TikTok FYP has been filled lately with videos challenging viewers to describe themselves. Not to name your title or what you do for other people, but who you are. I tried to create a list of adjectives to describe me. It was harder than I thought!

Bolles writes that "you are a person who has multiple skills and experiences." You are not to your job title, nor should you try to box yourself as such. Moreover, Bolles assures that knowing who you are will inevitably lead you to describe what you are looking for since you "can accurately describe to employers exactly what it is unique about you and what you bring to the table that others do not." I don't know about you, but this seems like a sort of superpower to me!

The flower exercise, as Bolles calls this journey of self-discovery, commences in the next chapter. In the meantime, here is the list of 27 positive adjectives I use to describe myself. Creating this list took me two days, plus a Google search for "positive adjectives to describe yourself."

I decided to keep an open comma to keep adding to my list as I continue getting to know myself better.
